Every work begins with drawing.

For more than three decades, Tracy Keith has developed a multidisciplinary practice spanning drawing, painting and ceramics. Throughout that time, drawing has remained the foundation a place where ideas are tested, refined and allowed to evolve before taking form in other materials.

His work explores the relationship between design, form and memory. Rather than illustrating a fixed narrative, each work creates space for viewers to bring their own experiences, histories and interpretations.

Alongside his studio practice, Tracy completed a Master of Fine Arts and spent more than 30 years teaching visual arts across certificate, diploma and degree programmes. This lifelong commitment to making and mentoring has shaped a practice grounded in curiosity, discipline and the continual refinement of ideas.

Over the course of his career Tracy has exhibited extensively throughout New Zealand and Australia. His work is held in significant public collections including the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, The Dowse Art Museum, Pātaka Art + Museum, Christchurch Art Gallery, Te Whare Toi Heretaunga Hastings Art Gallery, The Suter Art Gallery Te Aratoi o Whakatū and the Wallace Arts Trust Collection.

Ceramic and sculptural works are represented in New Zealand by Tim Melville Gallery.

Studio based in Melbourne, Australia, Tracy continues to develop new bodies of work while expanding his drawing practice through original works released directly to collectors.
